Fall Break Travel Ideas

We’ve passed the Fourth of July holiday, and now is the perfect time to start making your plans for fall break. Fall breaks for most schools are typically not as long as other breaks during the year. To make the most of that time, here are a few ideas for a long weekend vacation (and some deals to go with them)!

Universal Orlando Resort

If you’re thinking of heading to Florida, Universal Orlando is a great option for a long weekend break. It’s not as large as Disney World, so it can feel more manageable to visit for a few days.

There are two theme parks, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, and one water theme park, Volcano Bay, that make up the resort. If there’s a Harry Potter fan in your life, you’re going to want to make sure you have a park-to-park ticket in order to ride the Hogwarts Express which connects the two parks!

Universal Orlando has a number of resort options starting at $96/night + tax, and staying at any of them gives you early access to the parks. If you decide to stay at their top-tier Premier hotels, these also include free Unlimited Express passes which allow you to skip the lines at most attractions and an unlimited amount of times during your stay! And when you price it out, many times this is a very similar cost to staying at a lower-tiered hotel and buying the pass separately. So why not upgrade?

Right now Universal Orlando is also offering 3 days free when you purchase a 2-day, 2-park ticket. This will give you plenty of time to enjoy everything the parks offer during your fall break!

Beaches Resorts

Itching to use that passport? Beaches Ocho Rios, Negril, and Turks and Caicos are fantastic options.

Beaches are a great family vacation choice as there’s so much included in your stay. Not only is it all-inclusive in terms of dining, but there are TONS of activities included in your stay including all water and land sports, kids clubs, waterparks, airport transfers, and gratuities. Beaches resorts in Jamaica also have their own exclusive airport arrival lounge.

Disneyland Resort

If you’re interested in a Disney visit but don’t think you can squeeze the immensity of Disney World into your fall break, consider a Disneyland visit instead!

While Disney World is approximately the size of San Francisco at 25,000 acres and includes 4 theme parks, Disneyland is much more compact at 500 acres made up of two parks, Disneyland and California Adventure. Making a plan to cover a ton of activities as both is totally possible over a long weekend at Disneyland.

From August 1 - September 30, 2023, Disney is offering up to 25% off resort stays (and up to 30% for Disney Visa cardholders). This can be booked now through September 26, 2023.

It’s entirely possible to squeeze a very full family vacation into the few days you have during fall break. Looking for other options? Let me know what you’re thinking and I can research options that fit your family’s needs.
